Random Pictures from the CA Trip- April 2012

Girl Shot - Aunt Kim, Me and Mom

Uncle Scott and Mom
Grandma Carol on the car ride up to Aunt Julie's in Chico, CA
They played pool a lot. Anthony had fun with Uncle Pete and my boy cousins.
Notice the fire: It was April and FREEZING!
Josh and Uncle Pete treated us to a CA Special - the Mexican food truck
So we didn't travel up and down the coast, we didn't have time and didn't want to. Anthony and I will go back to CA again so he can see San Francisco, Carmel, Cambria, and Santa Cruz but this trip was for family and that was just the way we like it. We got to get to know people better, share great experiences and just get a way to a totally different world.

Other food places we went on the trip include:
- In and Out Burger
- Spaghetti Factory
- Cafe Delicious
- Jamba Juice
- SEE's Candies

Hiking in Auburn

Great picture of Mom, Anthony and Kim before the big hike

Yes, this is my mom stretching. hehe
I didn't get the memo that we were supposed to acting cool

Under the bridge was the Easter Blog Post - I don't know who's hand that is. Lots of jumpers from there.

It was snow water and it was so cold. I loved it but would never swim in it.
Climbing the rock walls down by the river. The water was cold from the mountains of Lake Tahoe.

They were not there for us! I promise!
Anthony ran ahead of us! You can barely see him throwing rocks. He liked running in the mountains.
We were super active on our vacation in Northern California. It was the perfect trip for us. We stayed with family and Anthony got to meet some of mom's family that weren't able to make it out to Florida since we began our courtship in April of 2008.

On our trip, we went:
- Disc Golfing
- Hit the range
- Hiking
- Running (Anthony only until he ran into a deer)
- Mountain Biking
- Shopping (this is a sport for me)

Easter in Cali

I surprised Anthony by upgrading us to First Class!
Bridge in Auburn, CA It was extremely high and made Anthony a little nervous
Uncle Scott explaining something to Anthon

In Front of the American River - Where my dad used to tube down
Anthony's absolute favorite activity of Easter - Badminton. He played everyone.
Cousin Donnie's little boy Jaxon
Kids have SO much energy!
Grandpa Aho and Me

I could handle this. He was so cute like a blend of Dane and Donnie.

The Garden

Anthony really wanted to start a garden so he shopped around, tilled up the land, and got his raised garden put into place. Vivian was over and was more than happy to help us. We ended up getting some tomatoes that were super yummy but we had to battle a bottom rot issue on the vines so they haven't come back as hearty as they were.

Tilling with a shovel
Reading directions
Thelma helped too by moving around sticks... sometimes even putting them in our way. She then prevented Anthony from planting for a long time because she kept digging up Anthony's garden bed. No, no! Bad dog!

Screwing the backboard on.

Just dirt

Very esoteric.
The Finished Product!

15k and 5k

Anthony has now run in the past 2 Gate River Run 15ks here in Jacksonville. He is awesome! The first year he timed in around 1 hour and 50 minutes or so but this year he came in about 5 minutes faster at 1 hour and 45 minutes! This year he struggled as the race came nearer because of what was probably the flu that took out 2-3 weeks of training for him right before the big day. I am so proud of my husband. He is truly an amazing man and never stops pushing for his goals. Oh and it is becoming tradition for him to blow me a kiss as he crosses the finish line!

Well this post is title 15k and 5k... no, Anthony didn't finish his 15k and then run a 5k. I ran the 5k my Vizergy coworkers for Dreams Come True while he was running the 15k. I did really darn good too. I finished in under an hour :) That was my goal too.

Since January 2012, I have come to learn that I am extremely lactose intolerant and it happens to some people in their 20s. I have probably had this for a little while but blamed my stomach issues on moving out on my own, maybe being a bad cook, etc. The night before my first 5k, Anthony and I went out to Ruby Tuesday for dinner. I thought this would be a great idea because they have a really good salad bar. Lactose Intolerance means no dairy products which is anything made with cow's milk and cow's milk is in a lot. I hadn't really analyzed all of things that I couldn't eat yet and dumped a big heaping spoon full of ranch and cheese on my salad.

Roughly 2 hours after finishing dinner, I was in the bathroom throwing up until there was nothing left in me at all. This was probably the worst I have ever felt and I didn't have the strength or desire to eat anything so I went into the 5k on a completely empty stomach but I finished and that is all that matters! Woo hoo! Maybe next year I will be in shape enough and have the drive enough to go for the 15k. We'll see.

Dad's Visit

Dad and Anthony posing with the 2011 Arena Football League Championship Trophy
Dad came to visit Anthony and I was the only one who got to go Sharks Arena Football League Game. He is a lucky guy because we had a ton of fun at the game and a great weekend together. We really enjoyed his visit but I think Thelma enjoyed it even more. He spoiled her with raw hides and she had such bad gas after he left because of it... gee, thanks dad!

Dad's favorite part of the the game
Anthony and I really enjoyed the Sharks Season tickets and had a great time cheering our team to victory but they lost in the playoffs. I am not sure we will invest in season tickets for next year. I really didn't realize just how many games there were during a season. I felt like we were there every weekend.
