Anthony has now run in the past 2 Gate River Run 15ks here in Jacksonville. He is awesome! The first year he timed in around 1 hour and 50 minutes or so but this year he came in about 5 minutes faster at 1 hour and 45 minutes! This year he struggled as the race came nearer because of what was probably the flu that took out 2-3 weeks of training for him right before the big day. I am so proud of my husband. He is truly an amazing man and never stops pushing for his goals. Oh and it is becoming tradition for him to blow me a kiss as he crosses the finish line!
Well this post is title 15k and 5k... no, Anthony didn't finish his 15k and then run a 5k. I ran the 5k my Vizergy coworkers for Dreams Come True while he was running the 15k. I did really darn good too. I finished in under an hour :) That was my goal too.
Since January 2012, I have come to learn that I am extremely lactose intolerant and it happens to some people in their 20s. I have probably had this for a little while but blamed my stomach issues on moving out on my own, maybe being a bad cook, etc. The night before my first 5k, Anthony and I went out to Ruby Tuesday for dinner. I thought this would be a great idea because they have a really good salad bar. Lactose Intolerance means no dairy products which is anything made with cow's milk and cow's milk is in a lot. I hadn't really analyzed all of things that I couldn't eat yet and dumped a big heaping spoon full of ranch and cheese on my salad.
Roughly 2 hours after finishing dinner, I was in the bathroom throwing up until there was nothing left in me at all. This was probably the worst I have ever felt and I didn't have the strength or desire to eat anything so I went into the 5k on a completely empty stomach but I finished and that is all that matters! Woo hoo! Maybe next year I will be in shape enough and have the drive enough to go for the 15k. We'll see.
